My dear study friends we have come to the end of our journey through the book of Haggai. This book has
painted such an empowering
picture of restoration and hope for all
generations, not just for the chosen people of God.
I pray you have seen yourself in the story.
Haggai ministered encouragement and timelessRead Full Post »

We left off with the Lord shaking things up for the Jewish people physically, emotionally, and spiritually. He reassured them with a promise that the future glory of the temple would far exceed the glory of Solomon’s temple.
God dealt with their disinterest and discouragement by reminding them of their intimate history with the Great “I AM”. His power to save and delive...Read Full Post »

I come from the land of many earthquakes, Los Angeles, California. There is nothing more terrifying than being awakened by a mighty roaring sound, and watching the walls of your bedroom bulge and rock as your bed rolls across the linoleum floor to the other side of the room.
That was my first powerful experience in 1972. In the valley to the north of us, freeway overpasses collapsed crushing many ...Read Full Post »

Did you ever notice how any time you think you’ve got it all figured out, something changes and you are back to square one again?
As my children were growing up, we would seem to come to a plateau or a resting place where things ran smoothly, systems were working and all was clear sailing….for a season.
Then, one son would grow into a new sense of himself, the stubborn and contrary self,...Read Full Post »

How many ads have you seen or articles have you read that promise an easy way to “organize” your closets, or “trim your hedges”, or “wash your windows” or even “lose weight without exercise”.
They sell products to make the task easier, but they still require your cooperation. There is some work involved. You must acquire the tools and then, take action. They don’t do...Read Full Post »

So, how about this for a mind-boggler.
Shortly after last week’s Bible study post, I took my car in for inspection and guess what?
Yep. Side tracked by a $300 + repair bill. Ouch! Wasn’t planning on that just now. How funny, I thought. I just wrote, “car needs brakes, I need brakes” and…

In life there are tasks, and there are projects. One of my greatest challenges in raising a family is the endless numberof tasks that need to be accomplished every day.
Consider cooking, for example. While some would joyfully whip out the pots and pans, throw open their cookbook and begin to slice and dice, I awake eachday, greet the Lord and wonder, “What’s for dinner?” as soon a...Read Full Post »

Good day to all. I just want to praise God for the tender hearts of my sisters. I pray everyone who stops by this blog finds hope, feels blessed and encouraged. Thank you, Jesus! Uniquely gifted are we. What a joy to be able to share what God has taught us.
For I truly believe what the Bible teaches, that though we are "studying", "researching", "learning" from Biblical...Read Full Post »

I know it seems crazy to announce a study in Haggai, yet spend so much time in Ezra!
But, as we will see, God's word is interwoven by the accounts of the people He inspired to be leaders and historians. In the wide angle view of the Bible, we see in countless places the promised coming of Jesus and the blessed Holy Spirit in the Old Testament, then we see them revealed in the New Testament. Th...Read Full Post »

Hey, everybody. I hope you have had a chance to read Ezra and consider the questions I posted for you. When we study God's Word, there a couple of ways to go about it.
First, we can research, by reading commentaries to see what scholars and theologians have written. That's fine, because none of us, to my knowledge, is a Bible scholar!!

I hope you have been reading Ezra in preparation for our indepth study of Haggai. Of course, the history of Israel and how they ended up as exiles is told throughout the books of Kings and Chronicles. Exciting stuff. Good kings, horrible kings. A divided kingdom. Compelling, intriguing, shocking, and in all, God's hand is sovereign.
But, did you realize it was all part of a prophecy foretold by J...Read Full Post »

The exciting thing about studying God's word, as old as it is, (more than 5000 years) is that it is always so applicable to today, right now, September 2010.
Just stop for a minute and think about this....People are people...with all their warts and wrinkles, trials and triumphs, virtues and weaknesses. No matter if you are livi...Read Full Post »
