Someone dropped me an email yesterday. It was a wonderful surprise from a staff member at the special needs school where I teach theatre arts each Tuesday morning.
It was a surprise first of all because through the past year, I have only communicated via email with the school's lead teacher, who then forwards my occasional notes to the staff within the school.
Her simple note stated that she was wondering what my email address meant. [email protected]
It is interesting to note here, that nobody has ever asked me before! Praise God!
I always expected that someday somebody would, and I had better have a good answer.
Honestly, it was created years ago when I just started working on a computer. What I really wanted as my address was born2praise, but that was already taken.
One might think the address speaks for itself. But, then again, born2praise.. what? or.. who? It begs the question.
Add to that an additional digit, born2praise2 and now you might really wonder, does that mean born2praise "also", or is it born2praise "squared"?
Truly, when I first created it, I just thought it was "catchy" and "memorable".
But, I've been pondering it overnight, and found more substance can be applied here.
We are all born 2 live.....of course.
But, when we finally encounter our Savior, the Living Lord Jesus, we come to understand that we are also born 2 praise HIM!
We are all born 2 "do our gift".....whatever that might be: teach, paint, sing, engineer, practice medicine........actively pursue our giftedness.
And, when we finally encounter our Creator, the Giver of All Good Gifts, we come to recognize the Source of our giftedness, and praise HIM.
We are all born 2 love.....of course since the human heart yearns for relationships: family, spouse, friends.
However, when we discover a relationship with Jesus Christ, the One Who showed the depth of His love by laying down His own life as the ransom for our souls, aaah, then we embrace the privilege of giving praise and honor and worship to the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords.
We are all born 2 die.....that's a fact, Jack! To everything, there is a season under heaven.
Knowing the Savior has purchased our forgiveness, paid our sin-debt and set us free, washed us clean and given us the promise of eternal life .....what comfort, what assurance, what a hope, what a destination! There is no fear of death.
He has done for us, all which we cannot do for ourselves. What can I do but Praise him?
We were born2praise2 ! Thank you, Lord Jesus, for the gift of life, and for Your Spirit at work in us both to will and to act according to Your good pleasure. (Phil 2:13) I praise You for all that You are: the pearl of greatest price, Lover of my soul. May all I say and do and think bring You honor and glory today, Lord! With your help, so be it. Amen!
