"Explore the Roar" is the slogan of Niagara Falls State Park. Just got back last night and I must say, I have never experienced so grand and powerful a sight!
Watching the white caps forming atop the wavy, choppy waters of the Niagara River, becoming a swirling, treacherous rapids flowing freely over the rim of the falls, cascading with power, with energy, with grace and danger all at once! Hearing the roar of the pounding water and the whipping wind generated by this enormous gush of 10,000 gallons per second. To feel the spray of the mist, to become soaked from head to toe on the platform under the falls, and taste the cool refreshment through your very pores! To smell the cleansing agent of water all around.
Praise God for this magnificent gift of beauty, and the gift of science and engineering which harnesses its extremely valuable energy. The natural wonder and peace of the American Falls and the lovely park setting far surpassed the glitz, and Vegas-style Canadian side in my book.
I stood in amazement, capturing the massive expanse of this one of the "7 Wonders of the World" in my puny mind, and thought of the lyrics to a couple of my favorite hymns: " Praise God from whom all blessing flow". And, "Oh praise the Lord, who made all beauty, Whose gift of the senses we enjoy!"
