"Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God." Ephesians 5:1& 2
Well, that is certainly a command that makes you take a step back for a minute. Me, imitate God? But, what is He like...really? How can I do that, being only human?
A tall order, yet, elsewhere in the Bible, we learn that God Himself equips us to live the life of love, which may require personal sacrifices of time, or finances, or our own agendas.
To think that Jesus, Holy Son of God, left His position in Heaven from eternity past, to be born into this broken world. To think God could love us so much that He would ask His son to leave the perfection of Heaven and submit His majesty to ridicule, humiliation, torment and ultimately death on a cross. Not because He was crazy, but because He IS KING!
Rising from the dead, He is truly worthy of His Kingship. Don't you love a leader who leads by example? Sacrificial love....all in. no matter what. love. With all my heart I want to imitate Jesus.
