But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2: 10 - 12
A familiar story, centuries old. One that should not leave us empty or indifferent, but full of hope and promise if we let it.
How often life leaves us hurt or complacent or hopeless. Here is the remedy! A Savior, who is God in the flesh, has been provided to heal our hearts and minds, wake us out of complacency and be renewed in hope each and every day.
How can I feel that way, you may ask. Spend time reading the Gospels and ask yourself, who is this Jesus? Could His life and words benefit me?
I know a person who was bitter and angry over many issues in her life. She needed to be set free of the endless recycling of old events in her mind. She needed to be healed of the hurtful things done to her and said about her. She was definitely in a kind of bondage by reliving the past and being ruled by it.
As she began to embrace how great the love of God is for her, how He gave all of Himself that she might know her great value to Him, her heart grew to embrace His gift of love. Love changes everything.....if we let it.
Are you in need of assurance today? God loves us all the time. No strings attached. God forgives us all the time when we ask it. No need to beat ourselves up. He took all the beatings for us at the cross.
He reaches into our brokenness to bring new life. So, today, won't you bring all your "stuff" to Him? Receive His compassion, mercy and infinite everlasting love. True and lasting joy will be born in you!
Lord, God of Heaven and Earth, I thank you for sending Jesus to take my brokenness away. I thank you Jesus has purchased new life for me through His death and resurrection. I receive your forgiveness and love. Please come into my life, teach me, lead me and fill me with Your blessed joy! Amen!
