Always In His Grip

Posted by Lorraine Serra on October 4, 2010 at 10:25 AM

Got a call an hour ago.  My Aunt Marie, age 92 is on a vent after a sudden bout with pneumonia.

Life can change in an instant.  She, even at 92, had her strength, health, mind and heart. We were very close as she lived with my mom and dad for 10 years, and enjoyed being another  grandma to our oldest son, Jordan.

My cousin, Rosemarie, the only child, doesn't have the comfort of knowing Jesus.  She is scared, and told me Aunt Marie wanted all the heroic measures necessary to keep her alive.

That only slightly surprised me.   Marie was religious, as many people are, but wasn't in a truly free  relationship with God.

Even though she tried, she never felt worthy enough.  The good news is......not one of us is, but God fills in the gap between us.   He did that by sending His only Son Jesus as the perfect substitute payment for all our sin and failure....and fear.  He has made us worthy of a relationship with God by His sacrificial death on the cross.  We are forgiven and made whole by that sacrifice.

But, I was reminded today of the lyric of a song we sang in worship yesterday.  I 'm praying it for Aunt Marie and my cousin, Roe, and I hope it encourages you, too.

"I can't live by what I feel, but by the truth Your word reveals....I'm not holding on to You, but You're holding on to me."

I pray your soul finds rest in His constant grip.

Amen, sister! Thanks for your prayers, Val. And you said it. Thanks for reminding us that we are royalty, loved by the King!

Holy, awesome God, thank You.

I will pray for your family, Lorraine. I can so relate, many in my family are lost. Isn't it great the lengths that God goes to for his lost sheep!

I am always amazed that God has counted every hair on my head, I have ALOT of hair, enough for 3-5 people. The picture in scripture of the love that God has for each of us makes me feel like a princess. It is a feeling that I want everyone to experience. People are born into royalty, they don't earn it... We were born into royalty but Jesus paid a price, how much more are we worth than worldly royalty... Jesus says that he knows that we are poor and broken but that he also knows that we are rich!!! we just can't always see the wealth YET...
