Hello there, friends.
Please forgive my absence. Evidently, the website had some quirky things going on since webs.com did an overhaul.
But, I, too have been undergoing an overhaul of sorts. Spiritual overhaul.
I was challenged last week as I went to speak to some women's groups through Stonecroft Ministries. Heavy snow storms, traveling and challenges at home hit all at once.
Nevertheless, God is always faithful, never late, and consistently works even in our hardships. Praise Him with me for His word which never fails!
I was so blessed by the women I met last week, the conversations shared, hope realized, and re-commitment which came to many who realized how easily their pursuit of God had fallen short. Are we not all guilty at times?
I also came to the distinct revelation that living out Kingdom principles, and pursuing this study about Kingdom Living, Reigning With Christ, is a battle the enemy does not want us to win!
Can you imagine what God's Kingdom on earth could look like with all believers operating to their full potential in Christ? How effective could you and I become when we fearlessly embrace all the potential that God has placed in us, believing His Word fully, and stepping out in His power to serve others and change lives?
Would you like to truly live victoriously in Christ, not just pay Him lip service? That is where my heart is for my own life and family, those I love, my church, my neighbors, and you, too.
In these times, in end times, in hard times, we all need inspiration. But, true inspiration goes beyond a temporary shot in the arm. It becomes the very life force running through your veins. God's Word and His Holy Spirit IS that life force, the true perpetual inspiration. We should desire to be firmly planted on the rock of God's truth.
Therefore, much care is needed in handling God's word, asking the instruction of the Holy Spirit, and discovering truth that is life-altering in mind and spirit. So, let's pray for one another as we start this study journey together. With the Lord's help we will know the truth, and the truth will set us free! John 8:32
We know that the enemy is the Father of Lies. We know that he is like a roaring lion, roaming the earth seeking to devour whomever he can. His most effective tactics are to bring division and defeat by influencing our thoughts, and manipulating our circumstances, just as he did with Israel in our recent Haggai study.
It is so clear in scripture that the battle rages in the mind, hence capture all thoughts into submission to obey Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 Go read that again!
The description of Christianity as a kingdom, full of battles, serving our King as soldiers, and serving as ambassadors for Christ is more than metaphor, as I am certain many of us can attest. Our enemy can be quite subtle. He is clever and exploits our own pride and selfishness, our natural tendency to exalt and justify self.
So, taking the defensive position illustrated for us in Ephesians Chapter 6, let us don our armor and prepare for battle as we explore Reigning with Christ NOW, as we pray "Thy kindom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven."
To learn how to reign with Christ, we need to know our enemy, and we need to know ourselves. First, let's consider our enemy. so we can better prepare ourselves for battle. If you are not already in agreement that there is a spiritual battle going on around us, a literal fight between angels and demons in the spiritual realm, then let's take a look at these scriptures which teach that there is a cosmic conflict going on all around us, an invisible war which has implications in the visible world.
This is not to say that there is a demon under every rock! And I'm not suggesting that there is demonic activity behind every problem in life. And we can't go around saying, "The Devil made me do it!" We must take responsibility for our choices.
However, there is a spiritual realm to consider. Jesus said to Peter, "Satan has asked to sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you." Luke 22: 30-32 That phrase holds a threat.
But, Jesus is our Mediator and our Intercessor, halleluia! We just need to be aware.
Note that intercessory prayer, that is, praying for one another is a key component to overthrowing the enemy.
2 Kings 6:15-17 Elisha and his servant
Daniel 10 vs 12 referring to angels doing battle
Matthew 18:10 we all have protective angels
1 Peter 5:-9
Please seek the Lord as you look at these scriptures, and consider how these truths expand your knowledge and develop your battle strategy.
Share with us any other scriptures you can find which help us suit up for battle, or please ask questions about this topic.
Most Holy Lord, Majestic God, You are our refuge and our strength. We have been washed in Your blood, Lord Jesus, and translated into the kingdom of Your love by Your cross. Now, we humble ourselves before You, Lord. Teach us, mold us, use us as salt and light in Your kingdom as You lead. Let your kingdom come in our lives. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
