Find Your Peace and Purpose In Jesus Christ!

Posted by Lorraine Serra on March 15, 2013 at 9:15 AM

“God loved the world so much that he sent his one and only son, Jesus Christ.  Now, whoever believes everything about Him will not perish but have eternal life. “ This is the famous scripture from the gospel of John, Chapter 3, verse 16.

“John 3:16”.   You may have seen this on a cardboard sign in a football stadium, or painted on somebody's shirt, or even their chest!  Why do people quote this and post this and wave it around in public places?

Why does everyone need to hear this message?… Because it is the message of love.   Because this is the essence of the gospel; these words are LIFE.   God is NOT ANGRY with us .... God loves us.  The cross of Jesus Christ has made our peace with God so we can enjoy the riches of God.  By his own blood, Jesus has purchased our freedom from the punishment we deserve, and made us a new creation.

Just to put in perspective the awesomeness of this gift, we should look at what a serious death sentence we would face without it.  Jesus spoke more about Hell than about heaven, believe it or not.  If you would like to read a few references (53)  then click here.

Clearly, whether you believe this place is real or a metaphor, it doesn't sound like a nice place to visit.  Beyond that, I would not want to miss out on an eternity in the presence of a loving God.    Yet, on my own merit, and in my own strength, based on my own goodness, or lack of it, I don't stand a chance in "hell"!  Pun intended.  Thank God salvation is a free gift, and an essential gift.

Fortunately, over 2000 years ago, because of His great love for his creation, God provided a way to bring us out of spiritual, emotional and physical bankruptcy into a new life, a life filled with joy and promise, a life infused by His power to make all things new.   Does that appeal to you?

But it involves this cross thing, this sacrifice thing, this understanding of our need for forgiveness and accepting that it has already been provided.   We just need to accept the gift and open it up!   We admit we need help and take it.  We turn away from our self reliance and rely on our Savior.  Jesus gave His all and paid it all so we could turn to Him for all we need in life now and forever.   This is called grace, the undeserved favor of God.   It is awesome to live under the ever flowing fountain of God's grace.

Life with the Savior assures us we are never alone in the struggles and conflicts of life. ...He is our Champion, our King, who defends his people and provides everything they need, freely, liberally, abundantly.   The abundant life is free of worry, fear, anxiety, depression and lack.   Our King died to set us free from addiction, dependency, destructive behavior and every kind of bondage.

Life on our own terms is lesser in quality and power.  Life on God's terms is joy, peace, health, supply, forgiveness and position as a child of God and an heir to the kingdom of God.

"It is finished!" he cried out and gave up his spirit.    Three words which encompass everything we experience in this life.  His victory is our victory.  We need only receive this incredible free gift and live it.

Invite Jesus into your heart to be your Savior, to set right every wrong, to be your Lord and Master who will always teach you and lead you into the good things God has planned for you.

Lord, Jesus,  I am a weak and wounded sinner.  I need forgiveness, and I need a fresh start.    I am sorry for all my sin and I repent of all of it.  I believe you are the Son of God, sent to die in my place for my sin.  I believe your sacrifice has made me whole and purchased total forgiveness and a fresh start in my life.   Thank you for loving me that much.  Come into my life and teach  me to trust You.  With your help, I will begin to walk in a new way as your child.  I want to follow You.  Amen.

Jesus is worthy of our praise, and our obedience.  Halleulia!   Rejoice with this song  Our God Is Greater

 I am rejoicing with you!
